There are many young Tibetans who would always try to say "I am poor in Tibetan". Actually they are not only poor in Tibetan, they are very very poor in English too.
They feel very proud to say that they were poor in Tibetan - as if they are excellent in English and see themselves in a superior light because they can speak English, a language that almost all the people in the world speak. I always feel very sad and embarrassed to see them.
I always say that they were actually very poor in English as well and they can't be perfect in a foreign language unless they at least learn their mother language first.
