A monk immolated himself due to Chinese Torture.
“Ting Tong” My message tone rang very strange late at night. I was writing reading something by lying on the bed. I usually don’t care the messages just because I know those messages of that time would be my friend’s for good night’s wishes. But, I could not help seeing the message then and I just checked the message. Instead of wishing me good night, it was very sad news. The messages were “Today around 12. 30. A monk named Tsewang Norbu, 29 years old from Kham Tehor Tawu Monastery, had self immolated to protest Chinese Government’s atrocities. On his last breath, he called His Holiness the Dalai Lama returns to Tibet. Om Ma ni Ped Me Hung. May his soul rest in peace.”
That was on 15th August, 4 days ago. I couldn’t believe my eyes at the first time and read it again. It was same. So, immediately I opened internet and checked for the news in detail. I found more detail news about him from many webs.
Great freedom activist Late Tsewang Norbu was from Kham Tehor Tawu and he was monk of Tawu Monastery too. He was called “Norkho” by local people. I was too sad as one of my brothers lost his life under Chinese Invasion of my homeland, especially, the great Hero Tsewang Norbu was from my native place, Tehor. I have been so sad and depressed by hearing such news in my homeland from 12th of July to today. Many of my native people were too much strong and high spirit on Tibet and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. They have been protesting continuously to Chinese authorities and they will be and they won’t stop only when His Holiness the Dalai Lama returns to Tibet.
I couldn’t help crying. Both of my eyes were full of tears and couldn’t see the laptop’s screen clearly. I strongly wanted to see the great Hero Tsewang Norbu’s face and very much inspired by his strong and pure spirit. I could do nothing and what I could do is praying to His Holiness the Dalai Lama for him and reciting Mani.
Next day, I again went through some webs and finally I got the picture of Tsewang Norbu. How smart he is !!! A very young monk with handsome face. I really regret of losing his life under Chinese Government. The point is why he did so and how he protested to Chinese. Chinese policy over Tibet has been tighter and tighter day by day in all over the Tibet and especially in Eastern Tibet as they protested continuously in 2008 and still in 2011 by educated and uneducated, farmers and nomads, monks and nuns, from every Tibetan. There are lots of Chinese militaries in my homeland and we can’t call them by phone too and even if we call we are not allowed to talk about freedom and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. So, when they wanted to know little bit about His Holiness, they say how is He? We should understand what the word He stands for in their sentence. This is nothing but it indicates freedom of speech in my homeland.
When I recall these things I get so depressed myself. But depression is just to hurt myself and no difference to them. It is our right and responsibility to explain the situation inside Tibet to others and ask for support on Tibet Issue.
Like Tsewang Norbu, Phuntsok from Amdo just 19 years old also immolated himself due to Chinese genocide in Tibet for last many years. They just couldn’t control under Chinese continues torture on Tibetans.
All of Tibetans have strong believed that International would do something and support for truth of Tibet. It is very true that many of non Tibetans are very much supportive on Tibet but UNO the United Nations Organization is not ready to stand up with truth. Now I remember one part of speech from Dr. Lobsang Sangay in America, he said that if UNO does not stand with Tibet then we wouldn’t call it as United Nations Organization but we call Useless Nations Organization. Because it is useless for the Truth and useless for the Peace.
When I saw the real picture of Tsewang Norbu when he was in flame of immolation, I was full of sadness and my heart was almost broken in pieces. I wrote one Tibetan poem dedicated to him promptly and uploaded in webs. If I can write poems in English I would write and share with other friends who support for Tibet.
Nothing can be done from my side and I can only pray to His Holiness for him and others. Now I just want to tell that the self immolation of Tsewang Norbu tells and explains that Tibet is still in worry. Tibetans are still in sufferings. Chinese torture and genocide is still in Tibet.
